Szczeliniec Wielki is the highest peak of the Table Mountains. Rock labyrinth, viewing terraces, mountain hut. Slow travel through the Sudetes.
Why it's worth it
Szczeliniec Wielki is the highest peak of the Table Mountains (919 m) and one of the most interesting peaks in Poland. It lies in the Lower Silesian voivodeship, in the Sudetes, within the Table Mountains National Park. Szczeliniec is a peak that has everything an interesting peak should have: a rock labyrinth, viewing terraces, a mountain hut, and a unique landscape. The rock labyrinth on the summit is a true one-of-a-kind — a system of crevices, corridors, and rock towers where you can get lost. Add to that viewing terraces from which, on a clear day, you can see the whole Sudetes and even the Tatras.
Slow travel through Szczeliniec is a journey through a landscape that surprises with its diversity. The peak has a labyrinth, terraces, a mountain hut, and trails — all within a few hundred metres. It is worth spending 1–2 days here to truly feel this landscape. The best way to explore Szczeliniec is on foot — two trails lead to the summit (from Karłów and from Polanica), both well marked. Public transport from Kłodzko and Kudowa is good (buses).
What to see
Szczeliniec Wielki is divided into three main parts: the rock labyrinth (summit), viewing terraces (around the summit), and the mountain hut (on the summit). Exploring the peak takes 1–2 days.
