Former prisoner-of-war camps at Lamsdorf near Nysa. Today the Central Museum of Prisoners of War, with cemeteries and memorial sites.

Łambinowice is a place where POW camps operated in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries — including Lamsdorf, where Soviet prisoners were held during the Second World War and, after the war, a camp for the German population. The museum documents the history of prisoners of war and the fate of those who died here.

What to see

The museum with exhibitions and archives, POW cemeteries and the former camp grounds. Less known than the extermination camps, but just as important for understanding the twentieth century.

How to visit

Guided or individual visits; silence is expected at the cemeteries. Allow about two to three hours.

Getting there

Łambinowice lies near Nysa and Korfantów. Trains reach Nysa, then a bus or car.
